THE Chairman of the Ika South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Chief Wilson Agbobu, has echoed the party’s resounding sentiment for increased youth involvement in leadership positions.
This announcement was made during the campaign at Ozanogo where the party showcased its array of candidates gearing up for the forthcoming Local Government elections.
Chief Agbobu, the Ekadein Menim of Agbor kingdom, underscored the significance of the event, emphasizing that the current campaign and subsequent governance of the Local Government Area would serve as a crucial test for the youth’s ability to effectively manage Local Government affairs, influence statewide initiatives, and contribute to the development of the nation at large.
Addressing the highly-spirited audience, He acknowledged the collective call for youth leadership and joyfully proclaimed, “Your request has been granted!” He enthusiastically highlighted the profound shift towards youth representation across all positions, including the prestigious Chairmanship role, while affirming the strong support of the elders within the party.
He urged the youth to take charge of mobilizing a massive voter turnout in support of the PDP, which according to him would signify a new era of youth leadership within the political landscape.
In his speech, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior, the party’s chairmanship candidate in the area, called on the people of Ward 3 to rekindle the dynamic political spirit reminiscent of the successful electoral periods in 1999 and 2007.
Reflecting on past achievements nurtured by the party, he reminisced about the transformative progress witnessed in Ozanogogo due to the party’s influence, acknowledging the steadfast commitment of Hon Caroline Agbi to the principles of the PDP.
He appealed to the youths, elders, and leaders to unite in support of their shared vision, promising a tenure marked by justice and fairness. He equally noted that his wealth of experience would be harnessed to effectively fulfil the expectations placed upon him.
Before this, Comrade Amechi Igumbor, the Ika South PDP Chairman, rallied the members of Ward 2 to stand united in bolstering the candidacy of all PDP representatives.
Drawing inspiration from the party’s legacy, he emphasized the importance of consistency and unity in ensuring a seamless electoral process. He metaphorically likened the electoral journey to a familiar dance, urging every individual to deliver a resounding victory through robust voter engagement and solid support.
