THE Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has called for increased collaboration among stakeholders and partners in the healthcare sector as the state continues its drive towards achieving inclusive healthcare for all residents..
Akpoveta made this appeal while hosting members of the Delta State Health Partners Forum during their advocacy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba.
The DG commended the Forum, a coalition of various health-focused organizations and stakeholders within Delta State for their ongoing investment in the health of Deltans. He noted that the Delta State Government, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, remains committed to ensuring health for all Deltans.
He also informed the Forum that the state government has approved the testing of hepatitis infection for pregnant women and assured them that the Commission would clear all outstanding payments once funds are available.
Akpoveta urged the Forum to align with the various initiatives of the Commission, reiterating the Commission’s readiness to partner with individuals and groups that support the goal of providing more robust and effective healthcare.
During the visit, the state Coordinator of the World Health Organization, Dr. David Kajovo, the State Program Manager of the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS), Mr. Henry Udenenwu, along with representatives from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Dumebi Nkenchor-Achuzia, and Mrs. Momah Mercy of the Society for Family Health, expressed their intention to brief the DG on the Forum’s activities and explore potential areas of collaboration.
They commended Dr. Akpoveta for his dedication to advancing the health insurance scheme and reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to improving health outcomes through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and community engagement.
