THE Anambra State government has taken a decisive action against fraudulent native doctors and related criminal activities, sealing a shrine in Umuofor village, Okija.
The shrine, reportedly belonging to Ekene Igboegbueze, a notorious native doctor accused of promising supernatural wealth, was shut down following numerous complaints from Okija residents.
According to Governor’s Special Adviser, Ken Emeakai, the closure is in accordance with Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.
Furthermore, properties believed to have been purchased with the proceeds of Igboegbueze’s illegal activities have also been seized.
The contents of the shrine will undergo forensic analysis to determine further action against Igboegbueze.
Director of Operations for the Agunechemba Security Outfit, Chinenye Ihenko, warned young people against seeking quick riches through fraudulent native doctors and pastors, citing the damaging impact of this “get-rich-quick” mentality.
He urged them to focus on legitimate opportunities instead. Ihenko stressed the government’s commitment to cleaning up the State and tackling criminal activities.
Ihenko emphasized, “The mandate we have is to sanitize the State and we are on course.
“Anything contributing in one way or the other towards the desecration of the state and aiding criminal activities will surely give way. That we can assure Anambra people.”
