ANAN, Asaba Branch Spreads Tentacles

CHAIRMAN of Asaba Branch of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Mrs. Victoria Oma-Omizu Chukwurah has declared a new dawn in the association, in which the branch will no longer operate within the periphery of the state capital but widen its activities so as to make the professional body, which is known as the “Premium Brand of Choice”, to be more visible and impactful.

Chukwurah, in line with this vision, has therefore led the Exco of ANAN Asaba branch on a visit to the Obuzor of Ibusa, HRH Obi (Prof.) Louis Nwoboshi, an erudite professor emeritus, to engage with him on expanding ANAN’s sphere of influence, noting that Ibusa is part of the Delta State capital territory.

It was a friendly engagement going by the Obuzor’s high sense of humour as the monarch and his Chiefs-in-Council shared jokes with the Chukwurah-led exco. Exco members present included the Vice Chairman, Rev. Williams Chiedu, Jude Okeleka, Secretary, Ogeleka Nancy, Assistant Secretary, Ilide Victor, Treasurer, Paul Enwa, Publicity/Social Secretary, Akori Emmanuel, Ex-Officio II, Onyema Okonye, Financial Secretary.

In her speech, Chukwurah said “We are members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Asaba branch and we bring you greetings from all our members in Asaba branch and from our National President, Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor FCNA on behalf of all our ANAN members spread throughout the world.”

“Your Highness, it is a thing of joy for me as an individual to stand in your presence to deliver this speech, considering the role you played to ensure a peaceful election in our branch. I recall your royal prayers, advice and counsel, which I still hold so dear to my heart. I must confess, my meeting with you before the election brought a total reformation of my person in and out and I don’t take it for granted.

“Your Highness, it will interest you to know that myself and my exco members have deemed it fit to pay you this courtesy call, not only to inform you of the existence of this branch since 2010, but to among other things inform you of the emergence of this newly inaugurated Executives of the Asaba branch after a keenly contested election. It is ably led by your own Mrs. Victoria Oma-Omizu Chukwurah.” Mrs. Chukwurah hails from Ibusa by marriage. She continued: “May I crave your indulgence to intimate you of some of our programmes which this exco is ready to execute while we seek the support of His Highness and the Palace in the execution of these programmes and projects, of which the most important are completion of ANAN building which is presently ongoing at Immigration road, Ibusa, Delta State Capital Territory, request for a plot of land for library/crèche, purchase of a 30-seater bus to convey members to various trainings/seminars and other official assignments in and outside the state as well as partnership with the Palace in every possible way to project traditional ethical practices of Accounting and many more.

“In view of the above, Your Highness, I wish to use this medium to decorate you as our Patron”, Chukwurah said before going ahead to bestow the prestigious Patron of ANAN Asaba Branch on the revered monarch and Professor emeritus, saying this is because he has a lot to contribute to the association from his wealth of academic and all-round experience in life.

In his acceptance remarks, the Ibusa monarch said it was a pleasure to identify with the Premium Brand of Choice, saying that what he understands from the motto is that ANAN is the first when placed side by side with other professional bodies.

He said that the Palace is positively disposed to the request made by the association, adding that now that he is their Patron, there is more opportunity for engagement towards the betterment of the association.
