The commissioner representing Ika Federal Constituency in the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon Cordelia Anyagwu, has appreciated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing a female as its Vice Chairmanship Candidate.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Ward 10, Hon Anyagwu highlighted the significance of the decision to choose Mrs Glory Amamosa-Onyeagbor as resonating with the party members in her community and inspiring increased support for future elections.
Describing Ward 10 as the heart of PDP in Ika South Local Government Area, Hon Anyagwu credited the selection of a ward member as the vice chairmanship candidate to the collective hard work and dedication demonstrated by the communities over the years.
She emphasised that the ongoing political patronage and support received by the people have solidified their allegiance to the party, and the decision to elevate one of their own further reinforces their commitment to unity and progress.
Additionally, the DESOPADEC commissioner expressed hope that this move would encourage individuals from other parties within the ward to align themselves with the PDP.
In his address, the Chairmanship Candidate of the PDP in Ika South Local Government Area, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior, noted their planned open-door policy if elected and urged Ward 10 members to rally behind Mrs Amamosa-Onyeagbor and other candidates of the party.
Ehiwarior outlined plans to address security challenges facing the area and stressed the need for a collaborative effort to tackle such issues effectively.
He implored residents to provide credible information that can aid in addressing the various security concerns prevalent in the locality, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and cooperation in fostering a safer environment for all.
