THE Chairman Arewa Traditional Council in Delta State, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero has called on the Muslim communities to maintain peace as they celebrate Sallah.
Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero, who is also the Sarikin of Hausa Community said this in an interview in Asaba the Delta State Capital to mark the Sallah celebration.
The Sarikin, who was represented by Secretary-General Arewa Traditional Council, Delta State, Gambo Adamu Muhammad, said it was a period of thanksgiving by
Muslim faithful.
He said this was in-line with the Biblical story of Abraham wanting to use Isaac for sacrifice before God presented him with a ram. He, however, complained that in his 20 years of the celebration of EId el Kabir it was only this year he could not sacrifice ram as a result of the
economic hardship in the country.
According to him, the prices of Ram ranges from N350,000 to N400,000, making it very difficult for the poor Nigerians to buy one. He therefore called on government at
all levels to make policies that will restructure and revamp the economic status of Nigeria.
