A group of concerned persons residing in the Delta State capital has called for more cleanup exercises.
Speaking with our correspondent, they said there was a need for the state government to scale up sanitation efforts in restoring sanity to the environment.
They alleged the clogged drainage system and the presence of unkempt young boys and girls on the streets of the state capital have the potential to affect the image of the state’s centre negatively.
According to one of the respondents, the drainage system along the Koka axis of the state capital had turned into a refuse dump where mostly plastics, and Styrofoam wastes are dumped.
They called on the state government, through its Ministry of Environment and the Waste Management Board, to address the menace and prevent the outbreak of epidemics in the capital.
