- As Ogheye-Eghoroke Gets New Olare-Aja
THE Chairman, Warri North Local Government, Hon. Festus Ashima has charged Heads of communities in the council area to be more diplomatic and proactive in managing the affairs of their people and not be despotic and complacent so as not to be caught in the web by complex situations before calling for government intervention in their domain.
Ashima gave the charge at Ogheye Eghoroke, a coastal community in the Benin River axis of the local government area, when the people installed their new Olare-Aja (Village Head).
He said that the role of government was to support and ensure a peaceful and harmonious operational environment for the headship of any community to carry out its duty of effective management of its people with great sense of responsibility and accountability, noting that the days of despotism and tyranny was gone.
The Warri North chairman also made it known to the people of the twin towns of Ogheye-Eghoroke and Dimigun that he had already presented their requests for shore-protection to check sea/ocean surge to the state government, just he had requested more housing projects for victims whose homes were submerged/swept away by sea-surge, and also requested for economic empowerment for people of the coastal communities affected by natural disaster recently.
He, then, recommended consultations as a better approach to ensuring cordiality in managing community affairs. The chairman further said that as a people-centred government, the present administration has embarked on massive infrastructural development of the local government and will soon set up ad hoc committees as a way of empowering our teeming youths, most of who assisted us in the last election.
This, he said, was because youth empowerment was a major aspect of the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his administration.
In his post inauguration speech, the new Olare-Aja of Ogheye-Eghoroke, Pa. Menite Afotanju, thanked the community for massively supporting his emergence as the new Olare-Aja, even as he pleaded with his subjects to forgive him, if he had offended them in any way and by any means, knowingly or unknowingly, in the past. “I have also forgiven everybody who may have wronged him as well.
Earlier, a top palace Chief in Warri Kingdom, who is also an indigene of Ogheye-Eghoroke, Chief Brown Mene, while welcoming the guests to the occasion made them know that it was because all the five family stocks (districts) that make up the community unanimously agreed and tacitly endorsed the candidacy of Pa. Menite Afotanju as the new village head that the installation came to be, in the end, stating that, if there were disagreements among the five families, the situation would have been different as no installation would have happened.
Oborevwori’s Aide, Umunade, Egbo Empower 25 PDP Faithful
AS part of efforts to compliment the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Community Development, Chief Sunday Umunade, popularly known as Ogbiyama, and the Private Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Engr. Egbo Ernest have rolled out cash empowerment worth millions of Naira to 25 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ward 6, Kokori community in Ethiope East Local Goernment Area.
The cash empowerment, which took place at the residence of Chief Sunday Umunade, was witnessed by the Chairman of PDP Ward 6, Chief Felix Oniakukor, Chief Bethel Efekoro, and other leaders of the party in the ward.
Addressing the people during the empowerment, Chief Sunday Umunade, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the PDP, in Ethiope East, said “l am here today with leaders of the party to give out cash empowerment to members of PDP who are working round the clock for the growth of the Party at the ward level.”
He added: “l am giving out this empowerment to enhance the M.O.R.E agenda of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the upliftment of the State, hoping that the kind gesture would be for each and every month so as to get to each and every PDP member in the ward”.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the appointment he gave to him, noting that the appointment was a call to serve so as to contribute to the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Governor, hence, he was empowering his people at the ward level.
The governors aide urged the beneficiaries to continue to make proper use of the gesture, and appealed to them to support Governor Oborevwori PDP-led administration in the state for more dividends of democracy to get to them.
On his part, the Private Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Engr. Ernest Egbo gave out cash empowerment to 15 PDP Faithful in the same Ward 6, Kokori.
While giving out the cash empowerment to the 15 beneficiaries, he justified the purpose for doing so, and urged them to continue to support the Governor’s administration.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for his efforts towards the development of the state, and the Deputy Speaker of DTHA, Rt. Hon Arthur Akpowowo for the opportunity given to him to serve as his Private Secretary.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Maryian Onaghere, and others who spoke to newsmen, commended Chief Umunade and Engr. Egbo for the kind gesture and assured that they will make proper use of the money.
According to them, “We also give thanks to Governor Oborevwori for considering Chief Umunade for appointment, and the Deputy speakers for appointing Engr. Egbo”.
David Teberen Installed Head Of Senama Family
EVANGELIST David Teberen has been installed as the Head/Eldestman of Senama family, Ekreseha Quarter in Orhuworhun, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
The installation, which was done weekend at Senama family compound, was attended by Senama family members and representatives and chiefs from Orhuworhun Kingdom palace.
Speaking to newsmen, Evangelist Teberen thanked God for keeping him alive to become the Head/Eldestman of the extended Senama family.
He said, “It is a life time experience, I am very happy. Everyone is praying for something like this to become eldest person in a family. For me becoming the Eldestman of Senama family today, it is a thing of joy and I give God all the glory”

He urged the youths of the family to embrace peace and have something doing, adding that after obtaining university degrees, the youth should also learn trade. “Learning trade is helpful. —Okocha Tasks Newly Installed Diokpa
A prominent indigene of Agidiehe quarters in Ogwashi-Uku, headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Chief A.C Okocha, has tasked the newly installed eldest man (Diokpa), of Agidiehe, Chief Christopher Okwute, to as a matter of urgency, put modalities in motion for enduring proper documentation of Agidiehe’s rich history and culture, for the benefit of both the born and unborn generation of the community.
This, he noted, will enable sons and daughters of Agidiehe, to be abreast of their roots and know where they were coming from, thus giving them a sense of pride and belonging.
Chief Okocha gave the advice, weekend, after witnessing the installation of Chief Okwute as the eldest man (Diokpa), at the Ogwa Agidiehe, in Ogwashi-uku.
While congratulating the newly installed Diokpa and his Council of elders on their emergence to govern the affairs of the community, Chief Okocha charged the new Diokpa to bring his wealth of experience garnered as a retired official of a reputable oil firm, Agip, to bear in the administration of Agidiehe. Noting that as king makers, Agidiehe is very strategic in the Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, Chief A.C Okocha called on all sons and daughters of Agidiehe quarters, that is, the good children of Ehe their founder, namely Alibu, lyemue, Ugbe, Muko, Ojei, Oza , and Ogbu, respectively, to rally round Diokpa Okwute and his Council of elders by supporting them to achieve set goals.
He said that since the responsibility for the general administration of Agidiehe community was saddled on the newly installed Diokpa and his Council of elders, there was therefore, the dire need to ensure that there is unity, peace and respect for constituted authority, in Agidiehe, in addition to respect for the culture, tradition, and history of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom in general, and Agidiehe in particular.
Said Chief A.C. Okocha: “on behalf of the good people of Agidiehe quarters of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, l most heartily congratulate a worthy son of the community , Chief Christopher Chukwuka Okwute, on his traditional installation as the eldest man ( Diokpa), of Agidiehe community. I have no doubt that the new Diokpa will bring his wealth of experience garnered as a top management staff of oil giants ,Agip , to bear, in the discharge of his duties as the oldest man in Agidiehe quarters.
