Association Of Ibusa Professional Women Offers Free Medical Services To Community

THE Association of Ibusa Professional Women has brought smiles and relief to residents in Ibusa, Oshmili North Local Government Area of Delta state by offering free medical services as part of their ongoing commitment to community health.

In collaboration with Ibusa Association USA INC., the association held a 2024 free medical outreach at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa. Services provided included general health tests, eye exams with free reading glasses, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, breast screenings, cervical screenings, and prostate cancer screenings for men.

President of the Association, Mrs. Elizabeth Idigbe, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the critical importance of community healthcare. “We are committed to ensuring that every resident of Ibusa has access to free, quality healthcare,” she said.

She also highlighted that the outreach offered free medication based on individual health conditions, while those requiring specialized treatment were referred to hospitals for further care. Mrs. Idigbe urged residents to prioritize their health, particularly regular blood pressure checks, as hypertension remains a leading cause of death in the community. “Preventive care can help avoid life-threatening conditions,” she stressed.

Beyond healthcare, the Association also visited Ibusa Girls Secondary School, where they provided career talks, mentoring the students to pursue their professional dreams and talents.

As part of their long-term goals, the Association plans to build a skill acquisition center to empower the girl child in Ibusa. Founder and President Emeritus of the Association, Prof. Mrs. Ifeoma Utomi, reflected on their journey. “Since 2012, we have been dedicated to offering free medical care to the women of Ibusa. For the past two years, we expanded our outreach to include prostate cancer screenings for men, alongside continued breast and cervical cancer screenings for women,” she said.

Beneficiaries of the outreach expressed their heartfelt gratitude. One of the recipients Mrs. Isioma Nonyalim, praised the Association for providing much-needed relief. “I am grateful for the medications and the support. It’s a great relief in these challenging times,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Madam Comfort Okafor, commended the group for addressing healthcare issues in the community, urging them to sustain the program for the benefit of Igbuzo.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including the wife of the Obuzor, HRM, Mother and Queen, Obi Agnes Nwoboshi, and the President General of the Ibusa Development Union (ICDU) Worldwide, Pat Utomi, among others.
