FOLLOWING the outcome of the Ugboko Unity Cup tournament sponsored by an Executive Assistance to Governor Oborevwori (SSG) Office, Hon. Jossy Honnah, Atuma Quarters emerged winner of the 2024 inter-village football tournament in Idumuje-Ugboko Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The football tournament attracted all sons and daughters of the community, including members of the neighbouring communities like Onicha-Ugbo, Aniofu and Idumuje-Unor as those from Ewhomi I. Edo state.
After a series of matches between the villages in their various categories, two-quarter Finalists, Ogbe-Ofu and Atuma were engaged in power-packed thrilling soccer for ninety minutes, while the game ended 1-0 in favour of Atuma quarters, who emerged the 2024 Ugboko Unity Cup Champions.
The soccer tournament became a platform for community integration as well as a talent hunt from the grassroots level, adding that it provided not only a talent haunt but a reconciliation process to assure peace and tranquillity in the community.
According to the sponsor, “All over the world, football has ever remained a strong unifying factor for mankind. Bringing people together to foster peace, togetherness and joy. Christmas season is for Peace, love and Joy and that is what Ugboko Unity Cup is all about”.
Sir Honnah reassured the people that as an appointee to His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, he has a mandatory obligation to bring the M.O.R.E Agenda to his community in whichever way that he could.
Honnah presented cash awards to the Champions and all the contesting quarters of the community and assured the people of continuity while pleading for stakeholders to embrace peace and invest in the people.
