At Ndokwa East, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Osilonya Vincent, welcomed the delegation and showcased several ongoing projects, including the construction of a modern e-library, a chairman’s residential quarters in Ashaka, and an office block with halls for traditional rulers.
Other projects inspected included the completion of Umuokpala Town Hall and the renovation of the council’s secretariat in Aboh.
In Burutu, Mr. Ukpaka and his team were received by the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Julius Takeme, who took them around various projects in different stages of execution.
These included the construction of internal road networks linking the health centre and government jetty, residential quarters for the Area Customary Court President, and the reconstruction of senior staff quarters.
Similarly, in Ughelli North, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Jaro Egbo, conducted the Auditor-General’s team through key projects such as the construction of an executive administrative block at the council secretariat, an ultra-modern primary health centre, and the renovation of both the legislative arm building and the old administrative block. The latter was upgraded with a 15KVA solar system installation.
After the inspection, Mr. Ukpaka commended the local government chairmen for their efforts but emphasized the need for all projects to be people-oriented and ensure value for money.
He urged the council executives to maintain transparency and accountability, ensuring that public funds are judiciously spent on projects that directly benefit the communities.
