Bayoko Tasks Secretaries, Reporters To Improve Technical Skills, Tech Innovations

The Delta State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko, has stressed the need for secretaries and reporters to strive towards improving, not only their technical skills but to also adapt technological innovations and reality of the time.

Bayoko stated this in Asaba during the Secretaries and Reporters Day Celebration of the Chartered Institute of Certified Secretaries and Reporters of Nigeria.

He noted that secretaries and official reporters play a pivotal role in the success of any organization as frontline office personnel and the nerve centre of an organization.

The HOS, who was the chairman of the occasion, said that secretaries and official reporters provided strategic positions in all establishments and congratulated them for the celebration.

Represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mr. Kingsley Olumukoro, the HOS described the theme of this year’s celebration which is the “Impact of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology:  Innovation and the Duties of Reporters, Secretaries and Administrative Professionals” as commendable.

Bayoko, who is one of the awardees said that Artificial Intelligence has revolutionalized every economic sector in the 21st century with its capacity to create efficient machines and cognitive abilities.

Earlier in her welcome address, the State Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Certified Secretaries and Reporters of Nigeria, Mrs. Omenogor U., said that the occasion was set aside to enable secretaries and reporters and their bosses as well as managers of private organizations come together for the purpose of realizing that their profession remained a link to office management.

Omenogor appreciated the HOS for the key role he plays in improving the career progression of confidential secretaries/reporters from the end bar GL 14 to GL 17 by possessing a B.Sc. degree/HND and PGD in relevant courses and appealed to the HOS to reduce the mandatory maturity period on grade level 14 to 15 from six years to three years before promotion to level 15

Earlier, the resource person, Mr. Paul Ayodele in his presentation titled “Impact of AI Technology: Innovations in the Duties of Reporters, Secretaries and Administrative Professionals”, harped on the need for secretaries and reporters to embrace skill development to enable them become relevant in the evolving world.

The awardees, including the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, the HOS, Mr. Reginald Bayoko and the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mr. Kingsley Olumukoro said that they were overwhelmed with the recognition and pledged to continue to support the Institute.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the induction of new members of the Institute and the presentation of certificate of recognition of excellent service delivery to the State Chairman of the Institute, Mrs. Omenogor and one of the Secretaries from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
