Collapsed School Building: DTSG Undertakes On-The-Spot Assessment, Commiserates With Victims

Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry has led a team comprising the Chairman of State Taskforce on Environment, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu and the Director of Delta State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Karo Ovemeso to the site of recent building collapse at Eghereka Primary School at Ewu Town in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

The collapsed school building said to have been abandoned for over a decade claimed the life of a primary two pupil, Master Ojiyovwin Salvation, leaving three other pupils hospitalised.

According to report, the team also visited the injured pupils in the hospital to commiserate with them and also rendered financial assistance to the injured pupils, noting that the visit was at the behest of the Governor who cares for all Deltans irrespective tribe or distance.

Leader of the team, Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry, described the occurrence as deeply regrettable saying that the visit was necessary in order to ascertain the cause of the disaster with a view to proffering remedy that will prevent a re-occurrence.
