An agrarian community in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Issele-Mkpitime has appealed to the Local Government Chairman, Emma Chinye, to address the harm that Fulani herdsmen caused to farmers in the community.
The community made the appeal when a delegation, led by the Odogwu of Issele-Mkpitime, Chief Patrick Okonkwo, in the company of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Engr Fidel Onwodi, the Isama of Issele-mkpitime, Chief Ikediashi Skido; the President-General of Issele-mkpitime, Mr Oge Okwuka and others, visited the Chairman.
While addressing the Chairman, the President-General, Mr Oge Okwuka thanked him for the good works that his administration had accomplished, praying that the local government boss should look into Fulani herdsmen’s menace as they destroyed crops in Issele-Mkpitime. He also pleaded for assistance in building lock-up stores in Issele-Mkpitime market, a perimeter fence for their Primary Health Care Centre, including the secondary school and the building of a Library in the public primary school. Chinye told the delegates that the Fulani herdsmen menace was not unique to Issele-Mkpitime alone but was a general problem in the whole of local government area, adding that his administration had prioritized the situation.He pointed out that they held several security meetings with the Fulani leaders, and the discussions and deliberation had been progressive as the security team awaits results from the Fulani leaders in their next meeting on assignments that they have been given. Chinye said that even the culprits responsible for the recent kidnapping in Onicha-Ugbo have been apprehended, including the Onicha-Ugbo indigene involved, adding that the council would not tolerate such crimes.
He assured them that they were doing projects and that he had earlier asked the Councillors and political appointees to submit a list of projects for each town that is endorsed by the Obi, PG and other relevant stakeholders in the community.
