Commuters Make Appeal Over Warri Expressway

COMMUTERS, particularly commercial tricycle (Keke) riders, are raising concerns over the deplorable state of the Warri Express Way, specifically the bad spots near Ugbuwangue Community.

Respondents told The Pointer that the road’s condition had damaged vehicles, hindered traffic flow, and forced drivers to take alternate routes, leading to reckless driving and traffic rule violations.

Speaking with our correspondent, a commuter, Felix Adaibo, lamented that the bad spots had impeded vehicular movements, compelling some road users to take nearby alternate roads and drive one way. He recalled that previous attempts to rehabilitate the bad spots were unsuccessful due to the lack of a drainage system.

Jacob Okon corroborated Adaibo’s statement, emphasizing the need for urgent action. Daniel Okoloko called on the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) to take responsibility for rehabilitating the road, as it is the primary route for heavy-duty vehicles accessing the New Nigeria Port Authority premises in Ugbuwangue Community. Meanwhile, Fetus Esievo expressed fears that the road’s condition will worsen during the rainy season, making it impassable.

He appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to intervene, saying, “I know that it is a Federal Government Road but we are the ones using the road. We should not continue to wait for the Federal Government for the rehabilitation of the road.”
