COMMUTERS have lamented the deplorable state of the ever busy Effurun/Sapele Road by Effurun flyover down to Mercy Land City.
Those who spoke to our correspondent complained bitterly that both sides of the flyover have sent many vehicles to mechanic workshops.
An intercity commercial bus driver, Taiwo Tajudeen accused drivers of heavy duty vehicles of responsible for the damage of the road as he also alleged that heavy duty vehicles were threats to other road users on the Effurun Sapele Road.
“ This is the only route for heavy duty vehicles coming from the North. The volume of traffic on this road is much .
Most often they breakdown on the bad spots making the road impassable for other road users “
“ So the need to rehabilitate the road to a very solid state cannot be overemphasized “ Another respondent, James Jaikeme shared the same opinion with Mr Tajudeen.
He further questioned the absence of officials of Federal Road Safety Corps on the said road. Jaikeme posited that Federal Road Safety Corps was established to check the exceses of unruly road users on Federal roads.
He expressed worries that both sides of the Effurun Flyover will be no go areas at the peak of rainy season.
He therefore called on FERMA authorities to effect repairs on the said bad spots on Effurun/Sapele urgently without any further delay.
