One person has died with several others injured after a section of a nine-storey building under construction collapsed in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Eyewitnesses report that the deceased, who was a bricklayer, was working with the cement mixer when the walls on the ninth floor collapsed, killing him instantly.
Some residents complained about the quality of work and questioned if the owner obtained approvals before embarking on the construction project.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Urban Renewal Michael Anoka, has directed that the building be sealed and for an investigation to be carried out to determine the cause of the collapse.
This incident comes days after a building collapsed in Lagos claiming the lives of five persons.
