Councillor Opens Water Project Three Weeks After Inauguration

THE Councillor representing Ward 11 in the Ika North East Legislative Arm, Gibson Igbodi has commissioned a water borehole project he constructed in Idumu-Osumah Quarters of Owa Oyibu.

Igbodi said his desire to construct the borehole was to address the challenges occasioned by water scarcity in Idumu-Osumah Quarters of Owa Oyibu, adding that the project was part of the fulfilment of his election promise to bring dividends of democracy to the people.

According to him, “This is to complement the present administration’s objective of providing welfare for the people to ensure accelerated development in the Local Government Area.

“I desire that the borehole will not only provide clean drinking water but also improve our agricultural and economic growth to meet the yearnings and aspirations of our people.

Continuing, Igbodi said the ceremony called for celebration, adding, “As we commission the borehole, let us celebrate our community’s resilience and determination’’.

In his remark, the Chairman of Ika North East Local Government, Monday Odigwe, while thanking the donor for his gesture in improving the lives of the people, said that barely three weeks in office, the people have begun to witness the evidence of good representation with the commissioning of the water project.

According to him, “One thing is to start a project but another is to complete it. Therefore, on behalf of the people of Ika North East, I want to especially thank Igbodi for this landmark achievement and pray to God to continue to lift him to do more for the people.

“A good thing has started coming from Ward 1, Owa-Oyibu, with God using the Councillor (Igbodi) to bless the people. It is my earnest desire that other councillors from Ward 1 to Ward 20 would emulate his legacy in fulfilling their various campaign promises in their constituencies.

Expressing his joy during the event, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika North East, Chuks Agbomah, said that since he joined politics, Igbodi has broken a record as the first Councillor to execute a project that ran into millions without receiving his first allowance in office.

He described Igbodi’s gesture to his people as timely and a testament that his choice by the people of Ward II to represent them was the right one. “Igbodi has done a noble thing, and I am confident that he will do more for his people. Indeed, this is a challenge to other councillors to know that their being elected by the people is to represent the people by giving back to them.

“Sincerely, Igbodi is making our party proud because nobody believed that he would start with project commissioning barely three into office. I want to thank the people of Owa-Oyibu for giving us a councillor like Igbodi, who has the people at heart”.

Responding in an interview with journalists, the community leader of Idumu-Osumah, Pa. Augustine Nwaoko, said they have gathered to celebrate the dawn of good representation with the commissioning of a water borehole constructed for the community. He prayed to God to bless Igbodi and that his representation would continue to be fruitful.
