THE Asaba chapter of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) recently held its executive committee election, ushering in a new leadership team. The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members later took place at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba. The ceremony saw active participation from members and was marked by the spirit of camaraderie and professionalism.
The elected chairman, Sir. David Onokpe, who was not around, had his remarks read by the elected vice chairman, Mr. Sylvester Okotume. He applauded the election process, describing it as free and fair.
Onokpe acknowledged that the new leadership aims to build on the chapter’s successes and introduce innovative programmes that will benefit both members and the broader community, stating also plans to strengthen ties with other chapters and the national body of the Chemical Society of Nigeria to ensure cohesive growth and development. In the same light, the Vice President south-south zone, Dr. Frank Oteiva, commended the past members for their active participation and expressed confidence in the new Exco’s ability to drive the chapter’s mission forward.
While applauding the election process, he noted that the newly elected members are: Sir David Onokpe (Chairman); Mr. Sylvester Okotume (Vice Chairman); Okiemute Ejite (Secretary); Mrs. Edith Unoka (Asst. Secretary); Dr. P. N Eze (Treasurer); Dr. V.U. Oguezi (Financial Secretary); Mr. Justus Okolie (PRO); and Mrs. Paula Nwokolo (Membership Sec.).
