CSR Day: ANAN Harps On Role Of Corporate Bodies In Impacting Lives

THE Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Asaba Branch has marked the 2024 ANAN Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day held globally every year as part of ANAN’s vision to impact communities through a sense of corporate responsibility as a professional body of choice.

In Asaba, Delta State capital, Chairman of the branch, Mrs. Victoria Omamerhi-Chukwurah FCNA during the CSR Day on October 14, urged corporate bodies to assist communities where they operate, especially with the growing number of vulnerable persons occasioned by the present economic challenges in the country. She said that in ANAN, the CSR day has become a way of life in which members come out en masse to offer sundry humanitarian services bearing in mind its role as a critical stakeholder in society’s development and general well-being.

As certain unforeseen circumstances had taken her away from Asaba, the vice chairman of the branch, Williams Chiedu FCNA led members on a visit to two charity homes where they introduced themselves as accountants who are out to impact the society. At Pro Labore Dei, they were received by Mrs. Mary Okojie. The association presented sundry items at both places, including foodstuff, wrappers, clothes for the inmates, sanitary items, general consumables as well as meals.

ANAN member, Mr. Onyema Okonye made a personal donation of N50, 000 to the Old Childless Widows Home, Ibusa.

Members of the branch Exco present included Mr. Jude Okeleke, the secretary-general, Akori Emmanuel, ex-officio, Mr. Paul Enwa, the publicity and social secretary, Mr. Onyema Okonye, financial secretary, Mr. Victor Ilide, treasurer, Mrs. Nancy Ogeleka, assistant secretary-general.

Odiwe said in his address that “every year, ANAN Asaba branch seeks greater ways of keying into the ANAN CSR Day which is a worldwide celebration with the chief celebrant being the President of ANAN and Chairman of Council, Dr. James Neminebor FCNA.

“To this end, this year, our amiable Chairman in Asaba branch, Mrs. Chukwurah decided on constituting a committee to make the day worthwhile. This committee led by my humble self and with  other capable hands as members reflected deeply on the theme, the very essence as well as import of this year’s ANAN CSR Day which is “ANAN CARES:  “Empowering Communities, Touching Hearts and Transforming Lives.”

“Please kindly accept what we came here with. It might seem like a drop in the ocean but it is certainly from the bottom of our hearts. See it as the beginning of greater things to come”, he said.
