Following multiple deaths in cult clashes between two rival groups in Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, peace has returned after a peace accord was said to had been signed by leaders of both confraternities.
It was learnt that the peace agreement was facilitated by leaders of the community that called on both cult groups to stop the killings and destruction of properties. Recall that two rival cult groups, Eiye and Maphite had been in a battle over an argument that started with a phone charger.
“One of the cult members loaned his iPhone charger to his rival and in the process of retrieving it, trouble ensued between two of them which later escalated to multiple killings and injuries in the community.
The crisis led to the death of a 45 year old father of five, a father of three, and other killings at different locations that lasted for nearly over a month. A ‘peace agreement’ document sighted by newsmen, was addressed to the President General of Agbarho kingdom.
According to the document addressed to the President General of Agbarho-Urhobo Improvement Union, both groups agreed to give peace a chance and that if any further killing is recorded, they should be held accountable.
