DELTA State Stakeholders (MDAs) on Environmental Sanitation Matters have asked Deltans and other inhabitants, especially those living within the state capital territory, to cultivate the culture of environmental cleanliness at all times.
This was one of the resolutions reached, yesterday, at a meeting of the body headed by the Director-General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Mr. Patrick Ukah, with representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Delta State Waste Management Board, State Taskforce on Environment and the Committee on Beautification in attendance.
The stakeholders said that as it was determined to continue with the campaign for the people to imbibe the spirit of cleanliness always, the people on their parts, should do their best to keep their environment clean at all times. Its was agreed that a special environmental sanitation monitoring exercise will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024 in the state.
During the exercise, there will be a total lockdown of vehicular and pedestrian movements in Asaba, Ibusa, Issele Azagba, Okpanam and other adjoining towns and residents are expected to cut the grasses around their premises, clear the drainages in front of their houses and keep their environment clean.
The meeting noted that the exercise is to become more regular until the inhabitants of the state develop the consciousness of cleanliness and make it part of their usual routine.
During the meeting, the last sanitation monitoring exercise was reviewed by Mr. Ukah and the Acting Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, during which areas of the exercise that lacked proper coordination were identified and appropriate measures put it place to avoid a repetition.
