…Orders Recapture After 4% FOB Suspension
BY RITA OYIBOKA
THE Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the cancellation of all import declarations made during the implementation of the now-suspended 4% Free-on-Board (FOB) charge.
In a statement issued on Monday by Abdullahi Maiwada, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, on behalf of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the NCS emphasised that this decision is essential to “ensure clarity, maintain consistency in customs operations, and prevent disruptions in clearance processes.”
Affected importers, customs agents, and stakeholders are, therefore, required to recapture their declarations through the designated customs processing platforms and proceed with the clearance of their goods.
The NCS has assured stakeholders that measures have been put in place to facilitate a smooth recapturing process, stating, “Customs Commands nationwide have been instructed to provide necessary assistance and clarifications to importers and agents requiring support.”
The service reaffirmed its commitment to implementing government fiscal policies in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, emphasising a consultative approach with stakeholders.
