Dcns Oborevwori Commissions Ultra-Modern Event Centre, Charges Politicians To Deliver On Promises

THE need for political leaders in the state to spread the dividends of democracy, particularly at the grassroots has been emphasized.

The wife of the State Governor and Founder, You Matter Charity Foundat ion, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori laid the emphasis during the commissioning of an ultra-modern Event Center, and flag-off ceremony of a N50 million empowerment programme for 500 persons in Oshimili South local government area.

The Oko community was agog as dignitaries including Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori visited for the inauguration of the Ultra-Modern Event Center built by the council chairman, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili. Commissioning the project, Deaconess Oborevwori commended the local government chairman for excellent performance and for reaching out to the grassroots, noting that posterity would remember him for his accomplishments. The governor’s wife said siting the event centre in Oko was thoughtful, as it would ease people’s stress in visiting the city for their events and at the same time they would enjoy the dividends of democracy, irrespective of location. The First Lady seized the opportunity to call on political leaders to emulate the Oshimili South local govrnment chairman. The chairman, Hon. Ezenyili said the N50m empowerment program was for 500 persons in the local government area and each beneficiary would receive N100,000.

He also extended his appreciation to Governor Sherrif Oborevwori for his support of 50 bags of 50kg rice for the empowerment programme.

Hon. Ezenyili said the governor’s fatherly roles to all politicians in the state had impacted on performances and has given the people a sense of belonging. A representative of the Oko monarch and member representing Oshimili South in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, the Oshimili South PDP Chairman Ogbuechi Chike Ifesiokwu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural development and the MORE Agenda of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The event was attended by the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme and the member representing Ika Federal Constituency, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, among other dignitaries.

In an interview, the former PDP Chairman, Oshimili South, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji and the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NUTRTW), Mr. Sylvester both lauded Hon. Ezenyili for breaking records in the Oko community.
