It was a joyous moment for children across Delta State, yesterday, as the wife of the Governor, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori hosted them to an end of year cum Christmas party at the Government House premises.
Over 500 children were gathered from across the 25 local government areas of the state, to be part of the annual celebration. In her address, the First Lady admonished the children to take their academics seriously and be obedient to their parents. She emphasized that the essence of the season was to show love and kindness and so encourage all to be ambassadors of love . In her words, “Be reminded that this is the time to reflect on why Jesus was born.
“He brought love, life and joy to mankind; do not allow this season to pass without doing the works of Jesus.
“Let us not eat and drink and forget to show love to those around us. Spread love everywhere you go.
“We know the way things are but there is always a difference at Christmas. If you have a bucket of rice share with your neighbor, family and friends and you will never lack”. The wife of the Governor further advised parents to prioritize the welfare of their children, especially as it has to do with their spiritual development.
In the same vein, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme in her address earlier in the event, spoke on the need to ponder on the essence of the Christmas season.
According to her, it is a reflective time to remember the love of God in sending his son to save mankind.
The event which was a very colourful one, featured several activities including dance, games, Bible recitations and with several other side attractions
