A young man, who was crushed to death alongside a mad man by a security personnel who was said to be in a chase of a suspected ‘yahoo boy’ (who also died on the spot) at Water Resources junction on Sunday, March 2, 2025 reportedly appeared to residents of Odibo Street, where he lived before his premature death.
He was said to have alighted from a keke when he and the man were rammed into by the ‘yahoo boy’ who allegedly lost control while trying to escape from the police.
A tricycle rider, who resides in Odibo area, narrated the bizarre incident to our correspondent as he swore that he saw the dead man in the early hours of the following day, Monday, March 3, 2025 entering Odibo Street by Lower Erejuwa Road.
The kwale-born keke rider also told our reporter that a young girl in Odibo street attested to the fact that she also saw the dead man entering the street on that fateful morning.
He said that he was shocked to his marrow when the younger brother of the dead man broke the news of the death of his elder brother to him and others the following day as he also narrated that the fatal accident, which claimed the life of his elder brother, also claimed the life of a suspected fraudster and the mad man.
He said that the younger brother of the dead man said that the remains of his brother and others were deposited at the mortuary of a hospital.
Our source further narrated that the only passenger in the ill-fated car broke one of his hands.
Efforts to confirm the incident that led to deaths of the young man and others from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
However a commercial driver at the Warri Garage, a resident of Water Resources who do not want his name mentioned in the media, confirmed the incident to our reporter as he disclosed that the unfortunate incident led to disruption of power supply to the area for three days.
