Defection To APC: LG Chairman Meets With Women Leaders, Others

The Chairman, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Chief Innocent Esewezie, over the weekend informed women leaders, cell leaders and other women representatives on the plan to defect to All Progressive Congress (APC), yesterday,   in solidarity with the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

The meeting, which held at the Oshimili North Local Government Liaison Office, Ibusa, witnessed a large turnout of women, reflecting the significant political influence they wield within the local government area.

Esewezie, while addressing the party faithful emphasized the strategic reasons behind the planned defection, highlighting the potential benefits for the local government and its residents. He spoke of alignment with federal policies, increased access to resources, and enhanced development opportunities that could arise from joining the APC alongside Gov. Oborevwori.

He called for collaborative effort held with the State Governor, underscoring the shared vision for a more prosperous Delta State. Esewezie addressed potential concerns and fielded questions from the women, ensuring transparency and fostering a sense of collective understanding. He stressed the importance of unity and collective action in navigating the political landscape, urging the women to maintain their steadfast support during the transition.

The women leaders, representing various wards within Oshimili North, expressed their unwavering loyalty to the Chairman. They acknowledged his leadership and commitment to their welfare, affirming their readiness to follow his political direction.

Several speakers echoed the same sentiment, ‘Where he goes, we will go,’ signifying a strong bond of trust and togetherness. They pledged to mobilize their respective wards and ensure a smooth transition for their members into the APC.

Meanwhile, adequate preparations are fully underway for a formal declaration ceremony today, where the official defection is expected to be announced in Asaba.
