A prominent Bishop in Delta State and key stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sapele Local Government Area, Prophet (Dr.) Kingsley Majemite has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his recent award by the management of Arise TV and This Day Newspaper.
Bishop Majemite described the award as well-deserved and a testament to Rt. Hon. Oborevwori’s unwavering dedication to service as Governor of Delta State.
In the same vein, the bishop called on the member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen Ned Nwoko to return the mandate given to him by the PDP following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at a press conference in Sapele, Bishop Majemite strongly criticized Nwoko’s decision, insisting that he cannot take a PDP mandate to the APC. He urged the Senate to declare Nwoko’s seat vacant, emphasizing that his defection neither weakens nor strengthens the PDP in Delta State.
“Ned Nwoko’s move to the APC does not in any way diminish the strength of the PDP in Delta. Our party remains solidly behind Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” Majemite said.
He further reaffirmed PDP’s dominance in the state, expressing confidence that Governor Oborevwori’s second term in 2027 is a certainty. “Governor Oborevwori’s re-election is sealed and guaranteed. All he needs to do is continue his good work, especially focusing on vital projects like the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic. Deltans are behind him,” he added.
Taking a swipe at those defecting from the PDP, Majemite argued that most of them had previously benefited from the party and that their exit would not shake its foundation.
“If Ned Nwoko thinks that leaving the PDP will fast-track his Anioma State agenda, he is deceiving himself. Delta State belongs to PDP, and we stand firm with our governor,” he declared.
Bishop Majemite also commended President Bola Tinubu for recognizing Governor Oborevwori’s leadership qualities, stating that the president is in full support of the administration. He called on all Deltans, regardless of their political affiliations, to rally behind the governor for the progress of the state.
“Delta has only one governor, and that is Sheriff Oborevwori. His leadership is bringing peace and development to the state, and we must all support him,” he said.
