THE Community Driven Development Social Implementation Unit (CDDSIU), under the Delta CARES Programme has successfully rehabilitated the Primary Health Care Centre in Onyah Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, to tackle healthcare challenges in rural communities.
Responding to the community’s plea for improved healthcare facilities, the rehabilitation project was initiated by leaders after the former facility became dilapidated, and unfit for use.
During a needs assessment exercise, community members expressed their interest for a renovated health centre and staff quarters to ensure timely medical attention and reduce mortality rate among their people.
The Chairman of the Community Project Management Committee, Mr. Morgan Uzor, expressed the community’s enthusiasm for the completion of the facility by the government, stating that it has brought hope to the people and eliminated the need to travel far distances for healthcare.
He revealed the renovated facility will benefit not only the Onyah community but also neighboring communities.
The chairman thanked the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for this kind gesture, expressed gratitude to his people while pledging on behalf of them to protect and utilize the facility for the well-being of all.
