NIGERIANS have been advised to bear with leaders over the current hardship in the country, while continuing to pray for a lasting solution to the present economic challenges plaguing the nation.
This advice was given by the Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mr. Samuel Oligida, during the Annual General Meeting of the High Court of Agbor Multi-purpose Cooperative Society held at the Ika Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Union Hall located at Professor Ebie Street, Agbor.
The commissioner, who was ably represented by a Chief Cooperative Officer in the Trade and Investment Ministry, Mr. Emmanuel Agha, called on members to bear with the current economic hardship plaguing the country and pray for God’s intervention.
In his opening remarks, the president of the society, Mr. Salami Etumudor said that the cooperative society posted a net surplus of N18,561,761:18k as against #17,356,749:02k with #202,589.929 as its working capital for the year under revenue.
Etumudor said the income was generated from the sale of lands, interest on loans granted to members as well as sales of essential commodities, while adding that the surplus was made possible through the cooperation of all the members of the cooperative society.
The highlight of the meeting was the dissolution of the Executive and election of a new executive committee, with Mr. Nicholas Eluemunu elected as the president while Mr. Livinus Ukwadioshi elected as vice Chairman.
Elected alongside the duo were; Ekene Okoba as Secretary and Mrs. Grace Igwe, Treasurer. Other members were; Mr. Ndudi Ogogo, Mr. Kester Igumbor, Mrs. Rose Dibie, Mr. Romeo Enuojo and Mr. Lucky Ugba.
In his post-election speech, Mr. Nicholas Eluemunu thanked members for the confidence reposed in him even in his retirement, after serving the cooperative as the pioneer president for fifteen years before bowing out of active service. He promised to continue to put in his best for the upliftment of the cooperative society, while soliciting for more cooperation from members.
