Delta Monarchs Congratulate Governor Oborevwori On Governor Of The Year Awards

Delta State Traditional Rulers Council has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on the recent conferment of the Governor of the year award on him by the Management of This day Newspaper and Arise TV as well as the Telegraph Newspapers .

In a five – point communique issued at the end of their monthly meeting in Asaba, the monarchs said they were elated that the Governor was singled out for such prestigious award in the area of infrastructure and prudent management of resources and described the award as well deserved and moral booster for the Governor.

The Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom , Major General Felix Mujakpuero Rtd , Orhue 1 who read the Communique also congratulated the Obi of Obior , Ofuokwu 111 on his 50 th coronation anniversary on the throne and prayed for his continued good health, wisdom and peaceful reign on the throne of his ancestors.

Flanked by the first Vice Chairman , S P Luke Kalanama V111 and Second Vice Chairman, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1 , PHD , the Council Chairman appealed to residents of the state to imbibe good sanitary habits and live in clean environment to avert outbreak of communicable diseases in the state.

The Council urged the people to adopt precautionary measures geared towards promoting good public health .

The State Chief Epidemiologist in the state ministry of Health, Dr Mildred Okowa had advocated for a cleaner environment and proper storage of food stuff to prevent the outbreak of diseases like cholera and other airborne or water related ailments.

She appealed to the Monarchs to sensitize their subjects on the dangers inherent in harmful health practices like open defecation and living in unhealthy conditions.

The Council also received in audience the Federal Commissioner for the National Population Commission, Mrs Blessing Brume Ataguba who briefed members about the upcoming 2025 Biometric / Digital Census urging the Royal Fathers to mobilize their subjects towards ensuring a successful head count.

The Delta State Commandant of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, Commander Mathew Sunday Ovye also briefed the Monarchs about the activities of the corps saying that the agency had the Responsibility and constitutional mandate to secure Schools, National assets like pipelines and oil installations among several other duties .

The meeting was attended by traditional rulers from across the three senatorial districts of Delta State including the Ovie of the great Idjerhe Kingdom, Monday Whiskey , Udurhie 1. (PHD) among others.
