Delta NUJ Plans Sustainable, Enhanced Welfare For Members

THE Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council, Comr. Churchill Oyowe has unveiled the Union’s plans to build a sustainable economy and infrastructural development to enhance the welfare of the association.

Oyowe’s plans align with the Delta State Government’s efforts to promote economic growth and development which focuses on job creation, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs.

This was disclosed at the end-of-year Thanksgiving service, held at Living Faith Church, Okpanam, Oshilimi North Local Government Area, ahead of the 2024 Press Week/Media Awareness scheduled for December 30- 31 at the NUJ Press Centre in Asaba.

Addressing Journalists at the church premises, Oyowe harped on the significance of thanksgiving and appreciation to God in anticipation.” We look forward to a successful press week, so we decided to appreciate God ahead.

“To the glory of God the council has done very well. I can tell you for free that council has doing well. If you go to the secretariat, what we are doing there is to establish a routine of self-sustainability and within the next two years we will concentrize on that. What we have there is a testament of we have started well and by God’s grace we will finish well,” he said.

Also, the NUJ State Secretary, Comr. Victor Sorokwu expressed his satisfaction towards the forthcoming event. “It is our press week, and annual festival where we celebrate ourselves and generate national discourse that will impact and affect our society. The theme of this event is imperative for proper recruitment process to have the desire leadership we want as a nation.

“We are bringing in speakers from all walks of life, concentrating on governance and leadership, we set the agenda for the government. Also there will be awards presentation and other activities” he said.

Earlier, the Lead Pastor of Living Faith Church Okpanam, Samuel Oluwole in his homily titled “Understanding How To Facilitate The Fulfillment of Prophecies”, admonished his congregants on the significance of prophetic declaration and speaking into our tomorrow.

Oluwole urged members to speak positively into 2025 outlining ways prophecies can be fulfilled: By the word of God, through the Holy Ghost and prophetic declarations sent our way, “Do not take your tomorrow for granted”, Oluwole said.

The highlight of the service was the thanksgiving by the Nigerian Bar Associations, Human Right and dedication of seven babies, anniversaries and many more.
