IN a move to improve the living conditions of corps members, Delta State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Olusegun Alao has donated essential items to one of the corpers lodges in Asaba.
The donation included 16 bed bunker, 30 plastic chairs, a 50 inch smart television and a DSTV decoder, aimed at enhancing the comfort and wellbeing of the corps members during their service year.
During a brief ceremony held at the State Corpers Lodge, Asaba, Mr. Alao emphasized the importance of creating a conducive living environment for corps members, acknowledging their dedication and contributions to the community. He mentioned that such a gesture wouldn’t have been possible without judicious use of available resources.
He also stated, “the welfare of our corps members is a priority. You must protect and care for these items so that people after you will benefit from them. We want to ensure you have the minimum comfort necessary to perform your duties effectively.”
Alao highlighted the vital role and contributions that corps members play in various sectors such as education, healthcare and community development. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting them through various initiatives and resources. He concluded by saying that the gesture is “work in progress as the 20 room capacity building will be equipped in phases.”
The corps members expressed gratitude for the donations, highlighting how the new amenities would significantly improve their living conditions.
The hostel governor, Ibrahim Aminu DT/23B/3055, while appreciating the State Cordinator, said, “this gesture by Mr. Alao is truly appreciated. The new beds, chairs and entertainment appliances will make a big difference in our daily lives.”
Another corps member and the coordinator of the corps lodge/Head of Corps Welfare in the state, Mr. Okun Wellington, also expressed ppreciation, saying, “we are extremely grateful for this donation. It will go a long way in improving the morale and welfare of our corps members. Comfortable living conditions are crucial for their overall productivity and satisfaction.”
Mr. Alao’s initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the welfare of corps members across the state. It reflects a commitment to supporting these young individuals who are playing a crucial role in community development and nation-building. He encouraged other stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to also contribute towards the welfare of corps members.
