THE Delta State Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, in collaboration with Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), Pan African University, Lagos, and Master Card Foundation, will today, begin the training of 12,500 female entrepreneurs across the 25 local government areas of the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Mrs OrodeUduaghan during a press briefing with newsmen at the Professor ChikeEdozien Secretariat, Asaba. According to the Commissioner, having gone through the first and second phases of the More Grant Scheme for artisans and petty traders respectively, the ministry had decided to kick off the third phase with female entrepreneurs across the state. She noted that the training was going to be for 500 girls per local government, adding that, thereafter, the state government would empower a total of 100 girls per local government that would scale through the initial training.
In her words, ‘’ We had launched the more grant scheme hosted by His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on the 23 of May 2024. We are now about to enter the third phase of the programme which is the more grant scheme for female entrepreneurs. When we launched the programme, we wanted to address it in three different phases. The first being with artisans, the second with petty traders and now the third phase, with female entrepreneurs.
‘’Starting tomorrow (today) we are going to start phase three for female entrepreneurs across Delta state. It is going to be a bit different from what we’ve done with artisans and petty traders. For the female entrepreneurs, we are collaborating with Enterprise Development Centre, Pan African University, Lagos, and Master Card Foundation. They want to empower over 3 million African youth with entrepreneurial management skill sets. So we are collaborating with them to bring that training to Delta State,
