The Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a directive for a mandatory meeting of all delegates and aspirants for various offices ahead of the state congress scheduled to take place in Asaba, the state capital on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
The meeting is expected to be a significant gathering, as the party prepares for the upcoming state congress to hold at the Cenotaph, Asaba by 10am this coming Saturday.
This was disclosed in a letter issued and signed by the State Secretary, Poples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Dan Ossai directing all delegates and aspirants for various offices to be seated by 9am at the venue.
For the avoidance of doubt, delegates for the State Congress are as follows:
The governor and the deputy governor of Delta State; former governors and their deputies, serving and former members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), members of the party’s State Executive Committee, serving and former members of the NEC and ZEC.
Others are, serving and former members of the National Assembly, serving members of Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), and former principal officers of DTHA, Local Government Council chairmen and vice chairmen, all local government party executive members, all National Assembly and Delta State House of Assembly candidates of the PDP in the last general election.
Also, three delegates from the wards, former members of the State Working Committee of PDP, former local government area party chairmen, One physically challenged person per LGA, all serving elected Local Government councillors, all serving chairmen and deputy chairmen, secretaries, women and youth leaders of the wards in the state as well as national delegates.
Additionally, all the categories of persons mentioned above must still be members of the party, the statement reads.
