The Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe, has said that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the just-concluded Local Government Council Elections is a testament that the party is waxing stronger under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Dr Oghenesivbe asserted while speaking in Asaba, that winning elections is a serious business, ‘’which is why electioneering victories can only be attained through united, active and productive party structures with a strong membership base, coupled with the achievements of the party and candidates within a reasonable time’’
He noted that the PDP and its structures worked very hard and campaigned extensively ‘’as can be seen in reports from traditional and social media organizations which showed that opposition parties were unprepared’’.
Oghenesivbe urged the leadership of opposition parties to face reality by accepting defeat as exhibited by the chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko North Local Government Area, Joshua Ogbodo, who congratulated the winner and PDP candidate, Prince Godwin Ogorugba. He assured that Governor Oborevwori would continue to embark on meaningful development and ensure opportunity for all Deltans, as well as provide the necessary support for poor families and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), while not shifting focus on mega infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the state.
The Bureau Chief commended Governor Oborevwori for leading the PDP to a landslide victory and creating a conducive atmosphere for credible, transparent, free and fair elections.
“It’s obvious that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the champion leader of our great party in Delta State. We cannot thank him enough for leading PDP to a heartwarming victory in the just concluded council elections, wherein we won the entire 25 Local Government Areas.
“The governor’s support for local government council autonomy is unprecedented. It is a pointer to the fact that he is a core Democrat whose lawmaking background resonates with his leadership style as the governor of Delta State.
“I am particularly overjoyed to be part of the success stories of the governor’s remarkable achievements within one year in office, and his accomplishments helped a great deal in the just concluded Local Government Council Elections.
“The MORE Agenda is fully on course, and I am pretty sure that Governor Oborevwori will continue to upscale his performance in all sectors of the state economy,” Oghenesivbe assured.
