DELTA Queens FC yesterday registered their first victory in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership with a 2-0 goal s against the visiting Benue Queens who made frantic effort to reduce the tally but for the superior skills of the host team.
The Chairman of Delta State Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the performance of the team as they have just started the league. He however noted that the there is room for improvement as they have a lot of time to perform mush better.
The Director General of the Sports Commision, Mr. Festus Ohwojero commended the team for their victory but advice the coaches to work on the midfield as there is need for synergy with the attackers.
The Benue Queens Coach, Bashiru Liadi expressed satisfaction with the game de3spite loosing the match as he was very much convinced that his team had some lapses due to better performance of the host tem.
He said that though he has lost two first matches, he is impressed that his team played better in this game than their previous one and he is hopeful that they will do better in the subsequent ones.
The Delta Queens Coach, Peter Dedevbo said he is happy that his team won the match but was not impressed as much as he expected because they did not utilize the numerous opportunities created.
He therefore promised to work on the midfield and the attack. The Coach commended Adam Princess for scoring the two goals in the first half of the tournament.
Coach Dedevbo believes that the team played much better in their game against Bayelsa Queens despite the lone goal lose in Samaon Siasia Stadium, Yenogua. He assured that his team will win their next match in Adamaw as he is prepared to put in his best.
