STUDENT Union Government (SUG) presidents from tertiary institutions across Delta State are set to convene for a landmark summit aimed at shaping the future of student governance.
The two-day summit, slated for January 7 and January 8 2025, will be held at the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
Dubbed the “Delta State SUG Presidents’ Strategic Summit 2025”, the event seeks to address challenges stalling the progress of student unions and advancing student welfare.
Speaking about the initiative, the DELSU SUG President who also doubles as the convener of the summit, Comrade Augustine Onovughegor highlighted its critical objectives.
“This summit was born out of the need for a unified platform where SUG presidents can collaborate, evaluate government policies affecting student welfare, and create a united front against the challenges we face,” he said.
The summit, he explained, will also highlight the unique issues confronting different tertiary institutions and promote collaborative problem-solving.
“By coming together, we can create a unified front and develop solutions that will benefit students not only in our universities but across Delta State,” he added.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including interactive sessions, expert-led panels, and networking opportunities.
Organisers aim to equip student leaders with the skills and strategies required to drive impactful change within their respective communities.
“This summit promises to be a transformative experience. Through engaging discussions and collaborative planning, we hope to redefine student leadership in Delta State and set the stage for long-lasting progress,” Onovughegor said.
