THE Delta State Technical and Vocational Education Board (TVEB) has matriculated over 120 individuals into its regular Vocational Skill Training program. This announcement was made by the Center Administrator, Mrs. Gilo Ebiere, during the World Youth Day celebration held at the center in Asaba, the state capital.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Ebiere emphasized the importance of acquiring skills, stating that “a person without skill is an empty vessel of knowledge.” She noted the current situation in the country and stressed that everyone, young and old, should acquire a skill to become valuable assets in the future. The Executive Secretary, Mr. Stanley Eruemulor, highlighted the significance of vocational and technical education in his speech. He remarked, “Youths, who are the future leaders, require an educational system that emphasizes vocational and technical skills as the solution to unemployment and the creation of a self-reliant, competent labor force.”

Mr. Eruemulor also called on all stakeholders to unite in recognizing the potential of young people as agents of peace and development. He urged that they be provided with the right skills and opportunities to contribute to a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Programme and Training Department at TVEB, Mrs. Blessing Ogheneaga, noted, “When you empower the youth with skills, they will build a better world. Skills are the currency of success, and youths are the future millionaires if given the required support and a conducive environment.”
