Deltans Shower Praises On Oborevwori Over Flood Prevention

A cross section of Deltans have showered praises on the Governor of Delta State, the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for taking proactive steps against floods, especially in flood-prone communities of the state.

The President of Kiagbodo community in Burutu Local Government Area of the state, Hon. Paul Clark said DESOPADEC is working and commended the Chairman, Chief Hon. John Nani.

He disclosed that last year it was the commission that opened the Waterways of their River, which was blocked. “I am not exaggerating! So the River was opened by DESOPADEC.

We dance and praise Chief Nani and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. We are 100 per cent. PDP no going back.God will bless Chief Nani and Governor Oborevwori for their good work”, he said.  He added that DESOPADEC had performed wonderfully well this year, than last year. “They came to rescue us from flood this year without our request. What a caring chairman and governor, because they know our problems here in Kiagbodo”.

Another Community leader of Kiagbodo, Coach Ebiwarebor Werekoromor, thanked DESOPADEC for coming to their rescue, disclosing that whenever it rains “The whole community is flooded but with work DESOPADEC has done by opening Ateja River, our boundary with Oviri Olomu, and clearing our drains, the problem is over”. While at Agbarho, both Tobi Chukwu and Mr. Henry Ugbo, who said they were non-indigenes of Agbarho, but had resided in the town for years, said that it was what the duty of government should do by working for the people. They commended Chief Nani and Governor Oborevwori, adding that whenever there was rain in Agbarho the whole town was flooded, but with the works so far done by DESOPADEC, flood will be history in Agbarho.  At the Water Resources Road and Polokor areas both in Uvwie and Warri South local government areas,it was a sigh of relief because whenever it rains, some of the streets were not accessibleas flood water enters houses.

As DESOPADEC open up the canal from back of Airport to Polokor, the water now flow direct from the OkereAjamimogha axis down to Warri River. Residents of these areas and Polokor Market Women no longer face flood problem, John Onovughe and Mrs. Alice Okugbe, traders in Polokor Market said.

The clearing  and opening of water canals, rivers and drainages which started  last week has taken DESOPADEC to Water Resources, back of Old Airport,to Polokor, Okere, Essi, Ajamimogha Canals to NPA and straight to the Warri River.
