Delta’s First Lady Empowers Aged Persons In Isoko

THE wife of Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori has extended her empowerment initiative to the aged persons in the Iyede community, Isoko North Local Government Area. The empowerment initiative, which took place at the country home of the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESO- PADEC), Chief Reginald Okpobor was administered on his behalf by his Executive Assistant, Mr Benjamin Jonny.

The first lady, who expressed commitment to improving the lives of aged persons within the category of 60 years and above, however, emphasized the need for community accountability towards these vulnerable persons, adding that this is her major objective for the empowerment initiative.

While commending Deaconess Oborevwori for her unwavering support and for prioritizing the needs of the elderly persons, Chief Okpobor noted that her dedication and generosity are enough testament to her love for the Iyede community and its people. Also speaking at the event, Mr Benjamin Jonny, who represented Chief Reginald Okpobor, emphasized the significance of the empowerment initiative of the First Lady adding that the event is beyond the distribution of substantial materials but is about showing the elders that they are valued and respected.

“To this, our beloved First Lady has further demonstrated her deep connection to our community and her commitment to ensuring no one is left behind”. The former Vice Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Chief Ozue noted his admiration for the first lady’s empowerment initiative, maintaining that her strong dedication and commitment to the elderly has set a standard for the leaders and its positive impact on the community cannot be overstated.

An illustrious son of the community, Engr Michael Edoja noted that the event was a profound reminder of the power of kindness and the importance of being responsible to the elders in society as this would make an unforgettable impact in their lives and would go a long way in strengthening the bond of love within the Iyede community. Highlights of the event were the distribution of essential items and financial aid to selected aged persons in the commmunity.
