Denkelly Foundation Presents Educational Materials To Pupils

DENKELLY Charity and Empowerment Foundation, has donated sundry educational materials to pupils of Obika Primary School, Ime-Obi Agbor, while best performing pupils of the school last term got in addition, a grant to take care of all expenses for the new academic session.

This was made known to newsmen, during the presentation of the educational materials to the pupils of Obika Primary School in Ime-Obi, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

While speaking during the event, the founder, Denkelly Charity and Empowerment Foundation, Mr. Dennis Kelubia, noted that during his time in Obika Primary School, from 1993 to 1999, the classrooms were packed with 30 to 40 pupils in each class, from primary one to primary six, while each class would have up to three to four arms.

Mr. Kelubia pointed out sadly, that today, the entire school has a population of only 40 to 50 pupils due to unconducive learning state of the classrooms with open windows without protectors, no doors and leaking roof which is adversely affecting the state of learning in such school.

According to him ‘The school lacks infrastructures and the environment is not conducive for learning.

“Back in our day, our teachers and some individuals would reward us with motivational gifts for taking first, second and third positions in class; being recognized in front of our peers and receiving these awards was a constant source of motivation which helped us to maintain those positions yearly.

“But today, things like that no longer happens, that is why I took it upon myself to initiate this effort, in order to replicate such motivational incentives for the pupils of the school.’ he hinted.

Mr. Kelubia made a passionate appeal, calling on all former pupils of Obika Primary School, and the Ika community to join hands and help improve the standard of the school in all ramifications.

“Let’s make a positive impact on the future of these pupils,” he begged. Just as he revealed that he was the Head boy of the school for 1998/1999 academic session.
