DESOPADEC Poised To Enhance Classroom Conditions In Schools —Ovbije

THE Commissioner representing Urhobo Ethnic Nationality in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Mr. Sylvester Ovbije has stated that DESOPADEC is committed to enhancing the conditions of schools in oil-bearing communities of Delta State.

Ovbije gave the assurance when he donated hundreds of classroom furniture to some schools in his mandate area.

Flagging-off the exercise recently, Ovbije noted that the gesture was in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda to provide physical infrastructure for improved education in the state.

According to him, the exercise was intended to provide adequate sitting chairs and desks for students in various schools, which would to make the classroom environment more conducive to learning.

Represented by his personal assistant Mr. Francis Voke, Ovbije said “We are providing this furniture to different primary and secondary schools in our mandate area because of the importance we attach to education in this twenty first century. I am confident that this infrastructure would add value to the educational sector.

Responding, Mrs. Lydia Utuedo, Headmistress of Orogun Primary School in Ughelli North Local Government Area, commended Mr. Ovbije and the Governor of Delta State for picking the school as one of the beneficiaries of the laudable program.

“I want to thank the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and our son, Mr. Sylvester Ovbije for their magnanimity. Before now, the school had serious shortage of chairs. Not quite long, the PTA had a meeting over the issue and today, we are surprised with sixty tables desk from DESOPADEC. It will go a long way in ameliorating the dearth of chairs in this school,” she said.

Also, Mrs. Rita Okuro, Assistant Head Mistress of Efe Primary School, Orogun also in Ughelli North thanked and appreciated the Governor and the Board Members of DESOPADEC for their kind gesture.

Some of the schools that benefited from this exercise include, Aragba Secondary School, Aragba-Orogun; Owewe Secondary School, Owevwe-Agbarha; Orogun Grammar School,Orogun; Orogun primary school;Agbon Girls Secondary School. Others are, Owodokpokpor Ogor Primary school; Oghelle Primary school, Ughelli ; Efe Primary School, Orogun; Igbuku primary school, Orogun; Abraka Grammar School, Abraka; Odeghogo Primary School; Ughelli, Mariere Primary School, Evwreni, and Ege Primary School, Uduophori, Patani.
