DESTMA Rebrands, Pledges Improved Traffic Mgt, Road Safety

THE Delta State Government has unveiled a strategic plan to strengthen the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) as part of efforts to improve road safety and enforce traffic regulations across the state.

This announcement was made by the Director-General of DESTMA, Hon. Benjamin Okiemute, during the agency’s first inaugural meeting held at its headquarters.

Okiemute highlighted that the rebranding of DESTMA, spearheaded by the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, represents a significant milestone in the state’s journey toward transforming traffic management.

He emphasized that the rebranding initiative is designed to revolutionize traffic control, enhance efficiency, and prioritize innovation in addressing road safety challenges.

According to him, the new directive aims to promote responsible driving habits, enforce road traffic laws more effectively, and implement advanced safety measures to reduce accidents and improve the overall road user experience in Delta State.

“Our vision is to create a safe and efficient transportation system that supports the economic growth and development of Delta State by focusing on enhancing good driving culture, enforcing traffic regulations and engaging stakeholders to promote road safety awareness and education.” He said

Okiemute reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring safer roads while fostering a culture of compliance with traffic regulations.

He urged all stakeholders to join in the fight of shaping the future of traffic management in Delta, as he called on the public to support the agency’s efforts by adhering to road safety rules and contributing to a sustainable traffic management system in the state.
