DEWIP, Humanitarian Ministry Partners For Women Advancement

BY RITA OYIBOKA

In a significant step towards strengthening women’s development in the State, the Delta Women in Politics (DEWIP), led by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Women Mobilisation to the Governor, Betty Onakpoma, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Girl-Child Development, Orode Uduaghan.

The purpose of the visit was to foster collaboration between DEWIP and the Humanitarian Ministry, aligning DEWIP’s mission with the state’s broader agenda for advancing the role of women in governance, development, and political participation.

Onakpoma emphasised the need for a unified approach to women’s empowerment, underscoring how DEWIP’s objectives are in line with Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which prioritises inclusivity, the empowerment of women, and strategic development programmes across Delta State.

“Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda has established solid frameworks for the ongoing advancement of women across Delta State. The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs is a key partner in this effort, and together, we can ensure that women’s welfare, political inclusion, and leadership roles are continually supported,” Onakpoma said during the meeting.

In her response, Orode Uduaghan expressed her support for the partnership, reaffirming the Ministry’s dedication to championing women’s causes.

She commended DEWIP for their ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and empowerment and pledged that the Ministry would collaborate closely with the group to achieve the goals outlined under the MORE Agenda.

“This Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the welfare of women and the girl-child throughout Delta State. We see this partnership as an opportunity to extend our reach further, ensuring that no woman is left behind as we strive for a more equitable and inclusive society,” Uduaghan said.

The Commissioner also assured the delegation that the Ministry would continue to implement programmes designed to uplift women, stressing that collaboration with DEWIP would amplify the impact of these initiatives.
