DLA Charges Host Community To Protect Public Infrastructure

THE Direct Labour Agency  (DLA) whose primary aim is to maintain roads within Delta State has urged community leaders to take responsibility for public property in their areas.

The Director General of the agency, Engr. Emmanuel lghomena said this in Asaba, the Delta State capital while briefing journalists, adding that “during our visit to the three Asphalt plants and operation zones, it was discovered that all the equipments were dilapidated and some vandalized. He however said roads to be given urgent attention have been earmaked in Asaba and other parts of the state.

Engr. Ighomena said, after the inauguration of the present board on 29th December, 2023 by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, without delay, it had swung into action, visiting the three operational zones in Agbor, Oghara and Ughelli.

However, while assessing most of the equipment, he said they were moribund and some vandalized.

In order to put them to use again, it requires full overhaul, “in Oghara, it requires N10 million, Agbor, N50 million and Ughelli where most of the important parts of the equipments were vandalized, it will take N80 million  to fix them.The DG further revealed that, the good news is that DLA is back because the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has given approval for the repairs of equipment at an estimated cost of N130 million, including repairs of the three Asphalt plants which is ongoing at the cost of N55 million.
