Don Enhances UNIDEL’s Library

BY PAUL EGEDE

In a continued effort to advance education in Delta, a Professor of Human Resources Management at the University of Johannesburg, Wilfred Ukpere has donated a substantial collection of management books and educational materials to the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor.

The donation, marking Prof Ukpere’s second contribution in weeks, was received by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Stella Chiemeke, who was represented by the university’s Librarian, Dr Vera Okonoko, during a brief ceremony.

Prof Chiemeke conveyed the university’s deep appreciation for Prof. Ukpere’s ongoing support, highlighting the positive impact his generosity would have on students, staff, and management. She emphasized that the textbooks would greatly enhance the institution’s learning and research capabilities.

The Vice-Chancellor called on other Nigerians in the diaspora to follow Prof. Ukpere’s example of philanthropy, which she described as embodying the “think-home” philosophy. She assured the donor that the books would be effectively utilized to support academic excellence at UNIDEL.

In his remarks, Prof. Ukpere expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting UNIDEL, stating that more contributions are forthcoming to further bolster research, teaching, and learning at the university.

This latest donation, facilitated by MrEwereOkonta, a social media influencer and lecturer at UNIDEL, follows an earlier multimillion-naira donation of management textbooks made by Prof. Ukpere on August 28, 2024.

Mr. Okonta has been instrumental in connecting the university with international donors and scholars, further enhancing its resources and global network.
