DTHA Embarks On Five-Week Recess

…Screens, Confirms Six Commissioner-Nominees

The Delta State House of Assembly, on Thursday, commenced a five-weeks recess in the second session of the 8th Assembly.

Rising from its plenary, the House adjourned plenary to Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

The long recess, according to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor is to enable the lawmakers fraternise with their constituents as well as strategies for the overall development of the House.

He explained that during the period, the House would ensure that members of staff who are due for training would be allowed to embark on such exercise.

Meanwhile, the House, on Thursday, screened and confirmed the appointments of six commissioner nominees who were earlier nominated by the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Those screened and confirmed were, the immediate past Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Mr. Sunday Tataobuozogwu and immediate past member representing Udu State Constituency, Hon Peter Uviejitobir.

Others screened and confirmed were; Barrister Val Arenyenka, Barrister Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod, Ebikeme Clark and Mr. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh.

Mr Okocha Nduka Benjamin who was earlier billed for the screenning exercise was substituted with Mr. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh whose nomination was made known only at Thursday’s plenary.

Ufoh’s nomination was contained in a letter addressed to the House by the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as read by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
