DTHA Service Commission Restates Commitment To Training Workforce

  • Commends Governor, Speaker For Support

As part of efforts to boost the capacity of the workforce of the Delta State Legislature, the State House of Assembly Service Commission has restated its commitment to delivering on its core mandates.

The Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr Sunday Ebireri, who gave the assurance while flagging off a two-day training for staff of the Commission, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor for their unrelenting efforts and support towards achieving the goals.

Speaking at the commencement of the capacity-building workshop with the theme “Effective Management and Role of Parliamentary Staff In Achieving The MORE Agenda of the Present Administration in Delta State”, Mr Ebireri said the Commission is poised to maintain standards amongst the staff of the state legislature.

He disclosed that the training became necessary to equip the workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the present administration in the state as it delivers on electioneering campaign promises to the people.

Ebireri emphasized the importance of capacity building to members of staff, saying that it, amongst other benefits, enhances service delivery to the State, particularly the state legislature. The Acting Chairman, who stressed that the Commission no doubt was responsible for training and retraining staff, enjoined participants to take the workshop seriously to perform optimally in their various assigned duties.  He commended Governor Oborevwori and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, for allowing staff of the Commission to improve their performance. In their contributions, some members of the board, including the First Member, Dr Philomena Oyearone, and Secretary, Mr Austine Uwasike, urged the participants to take advantage of the opportunity to improve themselves as more awaits them in the Oborevwori administration.

Some participants interviewed including Mr Uche Nwanze and Mr Emmanuel Aninye, expressed optimism that the training would make a positive impact in their lives.
