BY SUNDAY EGEDE

The people of Ajaji Layout, formerly known as Bonsaac in Asaba have been assured of the Delta State government’s efforts at providing social amenities for the increasing population.

The Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze gave the assurance when he visited the Ajaji Layout, recently.

Izeze, who was in company of Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs (Engr) Juliet Aboloje and other top officials of the Ministry, assured that he would bring the challenges of the area to the Governor for necessary action.

“Our amiable Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently won the award as Governor of the Year, is a man of the people who cares for the welfare of the masses.

“As you mentioned when you wrote, you came, we interfaced and we have come to see what the challenges are. Ours is to ensure that we are proactive by seeing the challenges and bringing them to the Governor’s attention and that is what we shall do, we can assure you of that.

“You have seen that our governor is presiding over a performing government, when he hears the cries of his people you know that in due course you will hear from him,” the Commissioner added.

Earlier, the Chairman the Ajaji Layout, Comrade Ifeanyi Francis appreciated the swift response from government and disclosed that the area was in dire need of roads, good drainage system, primary and secondary schools as well as healthcare system.

“Our amiable Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has the ears of the people and he has harkened to the cries of the people and we are most grateful to have seen the jobs he is doing, not just only in Asaba, but in Warri and everywhere.

“All these are testimonies that any person can come and see with their two eyes and for you to have come here today that we asked for audience and we have been granted that audience.

“So, today is a big day for us in this community and I hope and believe that our governor is going to hear the cries of the people of Ajaji Layout for roads, drainage, schools and that he will yield to them and come to our rescue.

“We are also appealing for the establishment of schools here. We don’t have government schools here, both primary and secondary. So, we are most happy today and even the pedestrian bridge that we are asking and begging for attention because of the situation here.

“We are over 100,000 people here, you need to see them when they are coming out in the morning, even our children they go to school across this road to Asaba for primary school and so on.

“We are talking about security. We are talking about the life of our children and so on, even the business community too and so on”, he added.
